Delhi University extends its closure until May 31, asks employees to download Aarogya Setu App

Delhi University announced the extension of its closure until May 31. The process of teaching and learning will continue through online modes during this period.

After the imposition of the fourth phase of the COVID-19 lockdown i.e. COVID-19 Lockdown 4.0, Delhi University directed its employees to download the Aarogya Setu app on their phones. DU also announced the extension of its closure until May 31 in view of the extension of the lockdown to combat the pandemic novel coronavirus.

The official notice released in this regards states, “In continuation of the Office Orders of even No. dated March 19, 2020, March 31, 2020, April 14, 2020, and May 3, 2020, it is brought to the notice of all concerned that in compliance to the Order No. 40-3/2020-DM-I (A) dated May 17, 2020, issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, for strict implementation of the Guidelines annexed to the MHA order, the University shall remain closed for a further period of two weeks with effect from 18.05.2020 for containment of COVID-19 pandemic. Further, all the employees are requested to install the Aarogya Setu app in their compatible mobile phones.”

The University further stated that the teaching-learning process will continue through online mode during the lockdown period. The notice reads, “During this period the e-learning process will continue and Departments and Colleges are requested to provide basic reading material to students through their respective websites. The University website provides details of various learning resources. The website also provides details of VPN connection for students and teachers to access the Library resources from home.”

The National Disaster Management Authority extended the nationwide lockdown until May 31, 2020, in order to control the virus spread.
