Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Calls for ₹100 Crore Corpus to Strengthen Delhi University Foundation
Pradhan praised Delhi University for naming its new college in Roshanpura after Veer Savarkar.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has called for raising a ₹100 crore corpus for the Delhi University Foundation, stressing its importance for bolstering the university’s academic and infrastructural growth over the next two years.
Speaking at a recent event, Pradhan highlighted the Government of India's rising investment in education and underscored the need for collaborative efforts to support Delhi University’s vision for excellence.
Pradhan praised Delhi University for naming its new college in Roshanpura after Veer Savarkar. “We do not wish to change history but to expand it. History is a mirror to the future, and DU plays a significant role in this,” he said.
Pradhan launched two key projects under the Delhi University Foundation—‘Sashakt Beti’ and ‘E-Drishti’:
Sashakt Beti: This initiative supports female students, particularly orphans and those from families earning less than ₹4 lakh annually, by providing laptops to enhance digital literacy and promote remote learning.
E-Drishti: Tailored for visually impaired students, this project offers tablets designed to aid reading, note-taking, and digital navigation, fostering inclusive education.
A fully equipped ambulance, donated by LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation, was also inaugurated by the minister. The new facility enhances emergency healthcare access for students, faculty, and staff, reflecting LIC Foundation’s commitment to campus safety.
The event included the launch of the ‘Commemorative Volume of Donor’s Chronicle, 2024’, celebrating the contributions of individuals and organizations that have significantly enriched the university. Donors were felicitated for their role in advancing Delhi University’s academic and infrastructural goals.
With the proposed ₹100 crore corpus, the Delhi University Foundation aims to accelerate its mission of fostering a world-class academic and research ecosystem.
