The newly introduced programs by IIT Kanpur in Cyber Security are scheduled to start from August 2021 to address the strong deficit of the cybersecurity workforce in the country.
IIT Kanpur Admissions 2020: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is all set to commence MTech, MS by Research, and BT-MT Dual Degree program in Cyber Security to address the Cyber Security Talent Deficit in India. According to Computer Science and Engineering Professor Sandeep Shukla, "IIT Kanpur Senate, and the Board of Governors have approved 3 new degree options in Cyber Security to start from August 2021 to address the strong deficit of cybersecurity workforce in the country." Mr Sandeep also talked about IIT Kanpur admissions and the number of students intake in the said courses. The professor said IIT Kanpur would initially intake up to 15 students in the MTech in Cyber Security program through GATE/industry sponsorship and only 10 students from Defense and other strategic government to address the governmental need in beefing up the cybersecurity and cyber defense workforce in the government.
Talking about the other two courses, the CSE Professor said, "MS by research in Cyber Security program will accept 10 students through GATE and industry sponsorship and 5 students from Defense, and Government agencies. BT-MT dual program is only open to the IIT Kanpur Computer Science & Engineering BTech students who want to opt for a BTech-MTech dual degree by completing additional credits to earn a master's degree along with their bachelor's in Technology degree in Computer Science & Engineering. These numbers include the necessary percentage of reserved seats from various reserved categories as per the extant laws."
