C3iHub at IIT Kanpur has opened registrations for the Global Cybersecurity Hackathon, ‘Hack IITK 2024.’ Those interested can complete registration by January 9, 2025.

C3iHub, the Cybersecurity Technology Innovation Hub at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, has opened registrations for the Global Cybersecurity Hackathon, Hack IITK 2024. Candidates can complete registration until January 9, 2025. To register for Global Cybersecurity Hackathon, they can visit the official website: hackathon.iitk.ac.in. Participants stand a chance to win prizes worth over INR 30 lakhs, including INR 5 lakhs in cash and AWS Cloud Credits.

Organised by C3iHub and powered by Techkriti, Hack IITK 2024 aims to unite cybersecurity enthusiasts worldwide to solve real-world challenges through innovation and competition. With esteemed partners like Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL), Saptang Labs, NTT DATA, SecureDApps, cloud partner AWS, and platform partners Hack2Skill and Prutor, the event promises a world-class experience for participants.

About Hack IITK

Hack IITK, created by IIT Kanpur professors, promotes innovation and entrepreneurship in cybersecurity. Open to students, startups, and professionals, participants will tackle real-world cybersecurity challenges set by C3iHub experts. The hybrid hackathon includes online qualification rounds and a Grand Finale at IIT Kanpur in February 2025, judged by leading cybersecurity experts from academia and industry.

The hackathon features two tracks:

  • Solution Track: Open to UG/PG students, focusing on IT Security, Cyber Crime, and Web3 Security. It includes three phase: Qualification Round, Challenge Round, and the Grand Finale at IIT Kanpur.
  • Startup Track: Designed for aspiring startups, covering IT Security, Web3 Security, AI/ML Security, Automotive Security, Mobile Security, and Privileged Access Management (PAM). Participants will submit proposals and pitch solutions to a jury of industry experts. Selected startups may receive incubation support at IIT Kanpur to bring their cybersecurity innovations to market.

Q:   Does IIT Kanpur conduct any interview round for MTech admission?

A:

No, there is no interview round for M.Tech admission at IIT Kanpur. Admission offers for GATE-qualified candidates are displayed on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Students must register at the COAP portal to view and accept their offers. Registration on COAP portal is free. Additionally, candidates are advised to download COAP 2022 information brochure. COAP Registration number is mandatory to apply for M.Tech at IIT Kanpur admission portal. Candidates who have not qualified GATE are communicated directly by the department via e-mail.

Q:   Can I get admission for BTech at IIT Kanpur without JEE?

A:

Admission to the BTech programme at IIT Kanpur is entrance exam-based, i.e., based on JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced scores. Candidates seeking admission to BTech can not get admission to IIT Kanpur with only the scores of JEE Main. JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counselling is the final selection criteria followed by the institute. However, to be eligible for the BTech programme, students are required to have passed their Class 12 with at least 75% aggregate with Science subjects (i.e., Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). Q:   Can I get admission in IIT Kanpur in BTech if my rank is between 0 and 5000?

A:

The cut off rank in Round 6 for BTech in Computer Science and Engineering is 238 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increases your chances of getting admission in IIT Kanpur - Indian Institute of Technology.
