Kavach-2023 has been framed to challenge innovative minds and to conceptualize ideas in the area of cyber security using Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Automation, Big data and Cloud computing. There were a total of 3900 applications for Kavach, out of which 106 teams for shortlisted by problem statements for the Grand Finale.
Team HeckerPeeps, comprising 3 students from the Department of Computer Engineering and 3 students from Electronics and Communication Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Technology emerged as Winners for the Problem Statement in the first Cyber Security Challenge KAVACH-2023.
The 36-hour cyber security hackathon, was conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Education in association with Innovation Cell of Ministry of Education, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) and Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) from August 8th to August 9th, 2023.
The winning team HeckerPeeps of JMI consisted of 6 members: Husain Shahid Rao, Ausaf Ahmad, Sparash Mahajan (All from B.Tech. Comp Engg, 4th Year), Huzaif Malik, Mohammad Sarfraz Alam, Shairin Meraj (All from B.Tech. Electronics and Comm Engg, 3rd and 4th Year).
The project in KVH-017 (Hardware Forensic Suite) included a desktop application which comprised of an end-to-end solution of Disk, Memory and Network Forensics compatible with both Windows, Mac and Linux. The solution had on-prem and cloud storage features as well. KVH-017 had 5 shortlisted teams competing in the Grand Finale. Nodal Centre was located at Centurion University of Technology and Management, Bhubaneshwar, Orissa.
Hackathon started on August 8, 2023, with teams embarking on their project endeavors. The first training session by Judges and Mentors was at 11 AM. The mentors told many important topics and loopholes on projects and teams started working on it. At 5 PM, the judges reviewed projects for our first round of evaluation, Each evaluation was of 7 minutes (Presentation Round for 4 minutes and a 3-minute Q&A round).
At 11 PM, the second round of evaluation, judges and mentors suggested new features and improvements on projects. The teams stayed up all night coding and building our project. In order to check the in-depth knowledge of the team, the judges told the teams to implement System Cloning and a system log aggregator. The winning team was presented INR 1 Lakh as the prize money for winning this prestigious event.
JMI Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar (Padma Shri) congratulated the winning team members and wished them good luck for their future endeavours.
