JNU partners Homi-Bhabha National Institute for joint supervision of PhD students

To strengthen the academic collaborations between JNU and Homi-Bhabha National Institute, JNU VC Prof. Santishree D. Pandit signed an MoU with the Homi-Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) to facilitate joint supervision of PhD students at any of the Constituent Institutions of HBNI funded by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).

HBNI offers Master's and PhD degrees in Engineering, Physical, Chemical, Mathematical, Life and Medical & Health Sciences while encouraging inter-disciplinary research. Additionally, academic programs in the domain of Applied Systems Analysis have also been identified to ensure the availability of adequate qualified human resources to address issues pertaining to nuclear law, the economics of nuclear power, nuclear security, nuclear proliferation, intellectual property rights etc at HBNI.

JNU releases status of structural repair, renovation of hostels

The university's official release says, "In response to JNU's request, UGC conveyed their approval vide letter dated June 16, 2022, and allocation of fund of INR 28 crores out of the total proposed cost of INR 56 crore has been made for the execution of the structural repair and renovation/up-gradation in academic buildings, hostel and staff quarters etc. for the year 2022-23."

"Further, UGC has released an amount of INR 14 crore as the first instalment for the above works. Accordingly, JNU has decided priority of the following works related to hostels which were already assigned to CPWD. A committee has been formed by the competent authority to monitor the progress of the work," added the release.
