Lucknow University (LU) has welcomed its first four-year undergraduate students today back to campus. Along with this, Lucknow University also started its new academic session for 13 of its undergraduate courses including BA, BSc and BCom in accordance with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Lucknow University will also be providing new facilities to students from this academic year. It includes new sports, auditorium facilities and mantra for happy thinking in the happy thinking laboratory.
“In the academic session 2021-22, LU has focused on the mental and physical health of the students as due to Covid-19 pandemic both have been badly affected. Also, as students are coming back for an on-campus class after a long time, it will be ensured that the campus is more student-friendly,” LU spokesperson Durgesh Srivastava told TOI.
He further said that for new students a green turf in the Canning college is also ready at the old campus for several sports activities. Over 70 years’ old Sir Maharaj Singh Gymnasium has also been revamped and equipment of INR 75 lakh has been installed. The varsity had last revamped the gymnasium in 2006 and a number of machines until now had got outdated and worn out. The new gymnasium will help students all facilities whether it is for maintaining fitness or special strength training for better performance in sporting activities, he added.
He further added that the second Lucknow University campus will soon get the facilities like a cricket field, lawn tennis courts, open-air gym and a multipurpose sports complex with both indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
"The basketball court and gymnasium are ready, while the construction work for other facilities is underway. The equipment for the open-air gym is ready and only installation has to be done. All these facilities will come up on the second campus using an INR15 lakh government grant under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA)," he added.
