Professor Usha Tandon appointed as new Dean of Faculty of Law, DU

With a teaching experience of more than 30 years, she is a world-renowned scholar for her work on human development focusing on environmental protection and women empowerment.

The Faculty of Law, University of Delhi has appointed Professor Usha Tandon as the new Dean of the institutions. Tandon is the 32nd Dean of the institution and occupies a position that has been previously held by many legal stalwarts. She is an eminent Professor of Environmental Law, Population Law, Gender Justice and Family Law. With a teaching experience of more than 30 years, she is a world-renowned scholar for her work on human development focusing on environmental protection and women empowerment.

She has more than 50 research papers to her credit published in the journals of international and national repute. Her research articles have been published in international journals like Transnational Environmental Law, Cambridge University Press, (UK), Coventry Law Journal, (UK), Yonsei Law Journal (South Korea), IIUM Law Journal (Malaysia), TOAEP, (Brussels, Belgium), OIDA International Journal of Sustainable Development (Ontario Canada), Palgrave Macmillan, (Singapore). NOUN International Journal of Private and Property Law (Nigeria). Her published work was widely appreciated by the Supreme Court of India in the year 2003. She has presented her research work at various international academic platforms in countries including the USA, UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Australia, China, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan.

She has also been contributing to international scholarship by serving as a Reviewer for manuscripts submitted to SCOPUS indexed journals like “Environmental Law Review, SAGE, UK”; “Review of European, Comparative and International Environmental Law, Wiley, USA and “Journal of Environmental Policy and Planning” (Taylor & Francis, UK).

As the Professor-in-Charge of Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi (CLC), she undertook various initiatives to enhance the infrastructure of the college.
