The Sharda University BA Political Science question paper has come to the limelight and is making rounds on social media. The question paper allegedly asked the students to mention the similarities between Fascism, Nazism and Hindutva. The University has now formed a three-member committee of senior faculty members to look into the possibility of bias in the questions asked from the BA Political Science (Hons.) first-year students, pending this inquiry, Sharda University has suspended the concerned faculty. The Sharda University has expressed displeasure over the incident that has taken place that may have the potential for fomenting social discord.
"The University fraternity is totally averse to any line of thought which distorts the great national identity and the inclusive culture inherent in our national ethos. As an institution of higher learning, we are committed to the larger mission of civilizational revival that celebrated the best of our religion, tradition, history, and culture that have shaped not just the idea of India, but all the facets of human knowledge on the world stage," Sharda University said in a statement.
Sharda University BA Political Science question asked students that “Do you find any similarities between Fascism/Nazism and Hindu right-wing (Hindutva)? Elaborate with arguments”. The image of the question paper is now making rounds on social media and has raised eyebrows. #banshardauniversity is also trending on Twitter.
A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Vikash Preetam Sinha, speaking on the same, tweeted, “The name of the university is 'Sharda' but see the act. The students are being asked in the examination to write about 'Hinduism' as essentially equivalent to Fascism and Nazism. This question paper is allegedly made by a Muslim teacher.”
