SPPU Semester Exams 2023: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Vice Chancellor Karbhari Kale has said that all the students who will be appearing for the SPPU Semester Exams 2023 in June, their answer sheets will be scanned and will be evaluated by respective teachers.

Until now, the University has been following the traditional pen-and-paper method of evaluation. From now on, the answer sheets of approximately 50,000 students pursuing their postgraduate degrees on the university's campus and the affiliated colleges, will be evaluated online. The VC further informed that, "these papers will be available to them through a secure login ID and password, and the marks will also be uploaded in the secure portal enabling faster generation of mark sheets. In the next phase, answer sheets of all students will be scanned and uploaded for online evaluation."

Sanjeev Sonawane, pro-vice-chancellor of SPPU, said that "the tender inviting proposals will be floated within eight days and within a month, a third party will be selected to provide the equipment for scanning and the secure software for uploading the answer sheets, for teachers to upload the marks of each question in each paper and to send it securely to another system, which will generate the mark sheet. The university will then verify and print these mark sheets."

"In the first phase, the scanning will be done manually. In the future, automatic scanning and uploading of answer sheets will hasten the process. The teachers evaluating every question will be able to see the total marks assigned for the answer, the stepwise marking given in the answer key, and then an empty column for the marks that he or she has to assign. There will be space for remarks by the teacher," Sonawane added, as reported by TOI.
