Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar advised the students to never be afraid of failure while addressing the special convocation ceremony of University of Jammu.
Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar addressed the special convocation ceremony of University of Jammu, at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium. While addressing the ceremony, the Vice President advised the students to never be afraid of failure. He said Jammu and Kashmir is charting a new path of remarkable growth and development post abrogation of Articles 35-A and 370. The region’s integration into the national mainstream has paved the way for investments, development and improved governance, he said.
Dhankhar said the region now has the prevalence of harmonious atmosphere and called it as the greatest homage to the life and mission of Syama Prasad Mookerjee who laid down his life for building a strong and united India.
On the occasion, he announced a Memorandum of Understanding between the Indian Council of World Affairs and University of Jammu. He said the partnership will facilitate greater exposure to the university in domains of culture, education and foreign affairs at a global level.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha urged the students to follow their passion and move forward with new resolutions. “Convocation is the moment of transformation in a student’s life. Stepping into the real world is also considered as start of a new mission, a mission to use special knowledge and skills and to contribute in equitable, sustainable growth in building a strong and prosperous India,” he said. The Lt Governor said, “I am confident that in the coming days, Jammu University will give new direction to the education sector of the country”.
Directorate of Hindi, Centre of Excellence in Dogri soon
Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, read out the annual report of the university and highlighted special programmes to be rolled out soon. He said the university is in the process of setting up a full-fledged Directorate of Hindi and a Centre of Excellence in Dogri, he said.
