UP School Fee Hike: The government of Uttar Pradesh has been asked to consider lifting the ban on school fee hike for private schools by the Lucknow bench of Allahabad Court. The Bench has urged the government after schools in the reopened considering a decline in the number of novel coronavirus cases. A hearing has been scheduled by the court on this matter on February 28, 2022.

According to PTI, the division bench of Justice A R Masoodi and Justice N K Jauhri passed the order on the writ petition filed by the Association of Private Schools. The petition has been filed in the High court challenging the state government's decision to put a ban on fee hikes for private schools in view of the COVID-19 situation.

The plea filed by the association states that as the schools have reopened and offline classes have commenced in schools there is no logic of a ban of fee hike. It further stated that the schools have to upload the revised fee structure for parents and students before the commencement of the new academic session. The academic session 2022-23 will begin on April 1, 2022. The objections, if any, by the association of parents have also to be considered in the mechanism prescribed.

Schools in Uttar Pradesh reopened for all classes on February 14, 2022, after an order issued by the state government. The state released orders to commence offline classes as the COVID-19 cases are dipping in the state and the situation is getting back to the stable. The guidelines released by the government to keep the COVID-19 spread under control amid the reopening of schools stated that vaccination is mandatory for all staff and teachers in offline classes.
