The notice reached these colleges as they were worried about how to hold exams in June.

West Bengal government sent out a notice to colleges directing them to continue the teaching process online. Several state-run as well as private universities in West Bengal already started conducting classes online to prevent loss of studies. Now, the government has asked colleges to explore possibilities of conducting online classes.

On April 1, the state government sent out a notice to these colleges asking them to submit their infrastructure reports. The colleges as asked to inform the government whether they had started with the e-learning and teaching module or not. One of the principals or such institutions stated that the government has said if the intuition has started giving online classes then it is supposed to explain the method and ways it is following to implement the e-classroom facilities.

The principal further stated that the colleges have to submit a report with subject names and online modules. They also have to mention the date when they started conducting the online classes. The notice reached these colleges as they were worried about how to hold exams in June.

While the country is going through a lockdown for 21 days due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus and people are practicing social distancing to avoid the spread of COVID-19, academic institutions are exploring different ways to prevent the loss of studies during this period. Academic institutions across the nation are closed, classes are suspended, examinations are postponed, and millions of students are forced to study from home. In order to continue their learning process, universities and schools are directing teachers to use different mediums like WhatsApp, email, e-learning classes, SMS, etc. to provide sufficient study material to the students.
