The MHRD wrote a letter addressed to UGC, AICTE, NCTE, CBSE, NTA, and NIOS, along with advisory on the conduct of staff while working from home.
Amid novel coronavirus outbreak, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has ordered all education bodies to allow work from home to all teaching and non-teaching staff until March 31. In order to control the pandemic virus, social distancing is enforced by the government.
The MHRD wrote a letter addressed to UGC, AICTE, NCTE, CBSE, NTA, and NIOS, along with advisory on the conduct of staff while working from home.
While working from home, faculty members, teachers, and researchers are advised to utilise the time developing online content, conducting classes online, and online evaluation. The teachers are also asked to develop plans and instructional material for next semester or year/batch.
The advisory also stated that while working from home, the researchers can proceed with their research work, write papers online and articles. It also asked teachers to spend time preparing innovative questions for 'Question Bank', and innovative projects for 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat' and other topics.
To continue the teaching work and minimize the education lag, UGC asked teachers and students to utilize e-learning resources. Teachers are instructed to share educational material through WhatsApp, email, online portals and more. In addition to this, students will also be given projects to be completed during the time they are home. The projects will be under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’, ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, ‘Ban on Single-Use Plastic’, and ‘Fit India’.
The orders of closing the educational institution for teachers and other staff until March 31 came after an online petition asked the Health Ministry and Human Resource Development Ministry to issue the same.
