To keep students engaged and in-touch with their academics during the lockdown period, Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) has started broadcasting virtual classes and other educational courses through their regional channels across the country.

Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) have started broadcasting virtual classes and other educational courses through their regional channels across the country, to avoid any academic loss of the students during this lockdown period.

AIR and Doordarshan are broadcasting these virtual classes through TV, radio, and YouTube.

With all schools across the country been closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, these virtual classes are helping lakhs of students, especially those in Class 10 and 12, in preparation for their board and competitive examinations, according to the official statement.

The virtual learning through DD and AIR includes curriculum-based classes for primary, middle and high-school level students. Secondary School Leaving Certificate subjects and model question papers for Class 10 students are also available in some of the states through these virtual classes, the statement added.

These classes are also helping students to prepare for their engineering, medical and other entrance examinations.

These virtual classes are also holding quiz shows and storytelling by eminent personalities, to keep these classes interesting for the students. Most of these classes start early morning and few are repeated in the afternoon, the statement said.

Doordarshan Kendras that are already broadcasting virtual classes are Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, and Jammu and Kashmir.

All India Radio stations broadcasting virtual classes are Vijaywada, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Tiruchirapalli, Coimbatore, Puducherry, Madurai, Trivandrum, Tirunelveli, Panaji, Jalgaon, Ratnagiri, Sangli, Parbhani, Aurangabad, Pune, Nagpur, Mumbai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Bikaner, Udaipur, Jodhpur, and Jaipur. The stations broadcasting educational content are Bhopal, Chennai, Kozhikode and Thrissur.
