Amid the rise in the number of Coronavirus cases in the country, the Delhi government has directed all public and private school teachers to work from home. This is been done to shut down schools completely to avoid further spread of the infection.

The Delhi government on Thursday has announced that all public and private educational institutions (including teaching and non-teaching staff) i.e schools, colleges, and Universities shall remain closed until March 31 with immediate effect.

The announcement is made in the wake of the steep rise in the coronavirus cases in the country in the past 48 hours. Earlier, the Delhi government had closed all private and public schools in the state only for the students. However, in the past few days, looking at the rise in a number of COVID-19 cases in the Delhi-NCR region, the government has advised teachers and non-teaching staff today to stay at home.

The Delhi government had announced this development through a tweet stating that all schools in the state shall remain closed with immediate effect for teaching and non-teaching staff till March 31.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a tweet has urged all Delhiites to work from home as a precautionary step to avoid the spread of coronavirus. He also said that all remaining examination including Board examination will now be rescheduled after March 31. All the staff, mentioned above, will be considered on duty and shall report to duty to their respective schools/colleges if the situation arises.

He has also mentioned that the teachers can do the evaluation of the annual examination paper from home itself. However, the government has suspended the evaluation of the class 10th and 12th board examination papers.

This move comes in the wake of a confirmed number of novel coronavirus cases reaching 174 after Chhattisgarh and Karnataka reported new ones.
