Delhi school reopening: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said that the decision to reopen the schools will be taken after winter vacations. While talking about the Omicron variant of COVID-19 spreading rapidly across the country, he said that if required, necessary restrictions will be imposed in the national capital.
"We are ready to tackle the Omicron threat. If required, we will impose necessary restrictions. Currently, there is no such need to impose any restrictions," he said. The Chief Minister further added that the decision on reopening of schools will be taken after winter vacation for schools ends.
It must be noted that the number of Omicron cases in the country reached 35 after Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Chandigarh reported their first case of the new COVID-19 variant, while Maharashtra and Karnataka each recorded one more case.
The Chief Minister also launched the "Dilli Ki Yogshala" programme that aims to help the city residents practice yoga regularly under the guidance of trained teachers. The programme will commence from January next year. He also launched a helpline number on which people can give a missed call and get the guidance of yoga teachers. A website -- dillikiyogshala.com -- was also launched on the occasion.
"People in groups of 25 can give a missed call on this number and the Delhi government will provide the teachers. They will require to identify a place like a park or a community hall to practise Yoga," Kejriwal said at a programme of the Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU).
