COVID-19 in Delhi Schools: The government of Delhi has released Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to curb the COVID-19 spread in schools. General guidelines released by the government include vaccination of students, teaching, non-teaching staff; sanitization of school premises; wearing of masks; use of all entry and exit gates; guiding students to avoid sharing lunch, notebooks; availability of quarantine rooms.

Daily symptom check, social distancing priority

With rising numbers of COVID-19 cases, the government has now made extensions in the guidelines by including daily symptoms check guidelines, health and safety guidelines, physical distancing guidelines, campus guest policy and awareness drive.

Schools have been directed to look for symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, loss of taste and smell, sore throat, nausea etc.

The official notice released by the government reads, “If a student or staff member displays any of the above symptoms whilst at the school, they should be moved away from the other people and into an outdoor or well-ventilated space or quarantine room.”

Teachers have to ask students about COVID-related symptoms at the time of morning attendance. Thermal scanning and hand sanitization are also mandatory at entrance gates. Parents have been asked not to send their children to school if there are any Covid symptoms.

Maintenance of physical distancing is necessary. The government has asked schools to discourage guest visits. Further, the Delhi government asked schools to display posters or standees on preventive measures about COVID-19 at classrooms, washrooms, parking, entry, exit of schools.
