On August 15, the government of Delhi launched, twenty Schools of Specialised Excellence (SoSE) catering to students in Classes 9 to 12.

Delhi government school of specialized excellence welcomes its first batch of 2200 students today, i.e. September 27, 2021. Announcing the launch of the classes, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, tweeted from his official account stating, “Today we are launching the classes of Delhi Govt School of Specialized Excellence and welcoming its first batch of 2200 students. 21st century's India needs experts with special skills and mindset. These schools will set a new standard in the education system.”

Talking further about the streams on which these schools will function, the minister added, “SoSEs will have four different streams - Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) education, humanities, 21st-century skills, performing & visual arts. Under the new Delhi Board of School Education, these schools will be offering International Baccalaureate programmes.

On August 15, the government of Delhi launched, twenty Schools of Specialised Excellence (SoSE) catering to students in Classes 9 to 12. All these schools, which are part of the first phase of the project, will be affiliated to the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE).

The schools have been launched for those with special aptitude and interest in specific domains of study such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), humanities, performing and visual arts, and high-end 21st-century skills. The government is partnering with the Australian Council for Educational Research and Boston Consulting Group to implement the project.

“Students at SoSEs will receive excellent learning opportunities in the area of their interest, which will enable them to join some of the best universities and institutions in the country and abroad. It is important to identify and provide specialised education to students who have a specific aptitude and deep interest,” said Sisodia earlier.
