Delhi University's administration had earlier sent a letter to St. Stephen's Principal stating that if the college goes ahead with its own criteria, the varsity will not recognize those admissions.
The Delhi High Court on Thursday listed the petition moved by St Stephen's College challenging the order issued by Delhi University to withdraw its prospectus, before the bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi.
Delhi University's administration had earlier sent a letter to St. Stephen's Principal stating that if the college goes ahead with its own criteria, the varsity will not recognize those admissions.
The move comes after St Stephenβs released its admission prospectus on May 24. As per the admission policy released by St.Stephens, the college has decided to give admission through Common University Admission Test (CUET) and 85 percent weightage will be given on the basis of merit and 15 percent weightage for all candidates will be through interviews.
However, this is in deviation to what Delhi University has decided for admission process this year. As per DU Admissions 2022 criteria, CUET-UG 2022 score will be the sole criteria for admission to various undergraduate courses offered by the affiliated colleges of the University of Delhi.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court has sought a response from St.Stephen's college and Delhi University on a plea seeking direction to the college to take admission on its 'unreserved seats' in undergraduate courses only on the basis of the marks that have been received by students in the common university entrance test (CUET), as mandated by the varsity.
A bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Sachin Datta issued a notice to St. Stephen's College, Delhi University, and University Grants Commission (UGC) on the petition filed by a law student. The court will listen to the matter on July 6.
