This is the third time that the varsity had to dismiss fake notice regarding University reopening. In September too, the University debunked a similar fake notice.

Delhi University has debunked a fake notice that has been making rounds on social media. As per the fake notice, Delhi University will resume offline classes for all Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses from January 10, 2022. This is the third time that the varsity had to dismiss fake notice regarding University reopening. In September too, the University debunked a similar fake notice.

The fake notice also stated that an adequate time frame of at least 10 days will be given to students residing outside Delhi to ensure smooth relocation and proper conduct of offline classes. Classes will be conducted with strict enforcement of government guidelines, it stated.

It must be noted that, recently, the Delhi government announced fresh curbs as part of the “yellow alert” to contain the fast-spreading Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the national capital. According to the new guidelines, schools, colleges and other educational institutions in Delhi will remain closed until further orders, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said.

Students have been eagerly waiting for Delhi University to reopen its campus for offline classes, however, due to the pandemic situation, the DU has been kept closed until now. Delhi University had reopened its campus in a phased manner from September 15, 2021. The University decided to transit into the blended online-offline mode of teaching and learning in a phased manner after a nod by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority on August 30, 2021, to reopen educational institutions. Final year Undergraduate and Postgraduate students were allowed to attend practical and library classes from September 15, 2021.

However, with the current Omicron scare, it is unlikely that the campus will be reopened soon.
