Candidates seeking admission to the M.Des program need to meet the cut-off criteria to get shortlisted and be assigned a merit rank. Check the cut-off marks for various categories here.

IIT Bombay has released the Part A cut-off marks for CEED 2023 on February 9, 2023. The cut-off marks have been released in the form of standard and mean deviations. The mean deviation for Part-A (UCEED 2023) is 57.63, while the standard deviation is 24.52. The CEED 2023 exam has two parts - Part A and Part B. Answer booklets for Part B will be evaluated only if the candidate meets the cut-off criteria in their respective categories.

Basis of Part A cut-off

The cut-off marks for Part A are decided based on marks obtained by candidates in the Part A exam.

The following formula is used to determine the cut-off and shortlist candidates.

Shortlisting of candidates:

The marks obtained in CEED 2023 Part-A exam are used to shortlist candidates.

The cut-off marks (δ) for Part-A for shortlisting candidates in the GEN category are:

μ (σ⁄2) = δ, where μ is the average mark, and σ is the standard deviation of the distribution of marks obtained by ALL the candidates in Part-A of CEED 2023.

The μ and σ are rounded off to two decimal places.

In the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories, there is a relaxed cut-off mark, which is 0.9δ for OBC-NCL/EWS and 0.5δ for SC/ST/PwD.

Evaluation of Part B answer booklet and allotment of merit ranks

The Part B answer booklets will be evaluated only if the candidate meets the cut-off criteria for Part A.

The results of CEED 2023 would be announced on March 7, 2023. Scorecards will be available from March 11 - June 13, 2023.

Note that, all candidates who meet the cut-off would get shortlisted and will be assigned a merit rank in CEED 2023. Consequently, such candidates are eligible to participate in the counseling process conducted by participating institutes.

In case of candidates who fail to meet the cut-off criteria, their scorecard won’t include any merit ranks.
