NID DAT 2023 Prelims LIVE - Exam Analysis, Expected Cutoff, Student's Reaction OUT

Allotment letters for the B.Des program will be issued from 1st week of June 2023 (onward).

Candidates who have been allotted seats will have to pay a token admission fee and upload necessary documents.

Candidates who get shortlisted will have to submit campus preferences between May 18 & 19, 2023.

The category-wise minimum qualifying criteria will be announced tentatively at the time of results.

The allotment of seats will be strictly based on the merit rank of the candidate in NID DAT 2023 entrance exam.

The candidate has to pay a fee of INR 2000 to submit a request for recheck of the DAT Prelims answer booklet.

The candidate will be notified about the change in marks after the completion of the reevaluation process through the registered email ID.

On rechecking the answer booklet, if it is found that there is an error, the marks will be revised accordingly.

The rechecking will be restricted to:

• Whether all the answers have been marked. 
• Whether there has been any mistake in the totaling of marks for each question in Part II of the answer booklet and transferring the marks correctly onto the first cover page of the answer booklet.

Requests for rechecking the answer booklet of the DAT Prelims have to be submitted online at admissions.nid.edu.

If the total marks scored by two or more candidates are the same, the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks: 

1. A higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part II/Part III). 
2. If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part I). 
3. If this still does not break the tie, then both candidates will be assigned the same rank.

If the total marks scored by two or more candidates are the same, the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks: 

1. Higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Part B of the DAT - Prelims. 
2. If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Part A of the DAT - Prelims. 
3. If this still does not break the tie, then both the candidates will be assigned the same rank

The weightages of the marks obtained in the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains will be announced later

The DAT Mains exam will be conducted in multiple formats as in a studio set-up.

The National Institute of Design (NID) will release separate admit cards for NID DAT 2023 (Mains). But note that DAT Mains admit cards will be issued to candidates only if they qualify DAT Prelims.

The NID DAT 2023 exam will evaluate the candidate on the basis of their knowledge, comprehension, analysis, creativity and visualisation. DAT Mains will evaluat the candidate’s creativity, aptitude for design as their material handling skills.

The merit lists for NID DAT 2023 will be aailable soon after the declaration of results. The merit list will be released category-wise and contain the name of candidates shortlisted for admission.

DAT Mains exam for B.Des will comprise a Studio Test, while for the M.Des program, DAT Mains comprises a Studio Test and an Online Interview. The Studio Test will be conducted on offline mode, while the Personal Interview is being conducted online.

Admit cards for B.Des will be available from April 14, while for M.Des admit cards will be available from March 9, 2023 (onward).

The schedule for DAT Mains is mentioned in the admission handbooks.

DAT Mains for B.Des will be conducted on April 29-30, while DAT Mains for M.Des will be held from March 20 - April 23, 2023.

The shortlisting will be done on the basis of the score of candidates in the DAT Prelims exam.

Candidates are allowed to request a recheck of the DAT Prelims result.

The re-check window for B.Des program will be open from March 30-April 1, 2023. Meanwhile, the re-check window for M.Des is open from February 28-March 2, 2023.

The GK section of the NID DAT 2023 question paper surprised some students as there were around 11 questions that were asked from it.

One of the questions in the NID DAT 2023 exam asked the question to give the technical name of terracotta. 

To be considered for admission under overseas category, candidates need to produce valid passport.

There will be no reservation under  GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories for overseas (supernumerary) seats.

For the B.Des program, seats are reserved for overseas candidates at the following institutes:

• NID Ahmedabad
• NID Madhya Pradesh
• NID Haryana

• The candidate must be born on or after 1 July 2003; three years’ relaxation in upper age limit applicable to candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC-NCL categories.
• The candidate must have passed or appearing in 10 2 exam in any stream.

Sidhant Akira thinks the cut-off would be high given the paper was easy.

As per Akash cu-off would be 80 for general, while another candidate (who goes by chot bheem on Telegram) chipped in saying cut-off would be around 67.

The National Institute of Design (NID) will declare the resuts for DAT 2023 Prelims on February 28, 2023.

A majority of students are saying the paper was easier compared to previous editions.

The last date to submit applications with regular fees was December 22, 2023. With late fees, the last date of submission of applications was December 25, 2023.

Applications for the NID DAT 2023 exam opened on December 16, 2023. The application process had to be completed online.

The reporting time was 8 am, but candidates were allowed entry up to 9.30 am. 

The DAT Prelims (B.Des) will include textual and visual questions.

The DAT Prelims for the B.Des program is being conducted as a paper-and-pencil/pen test.

Admission to the National Institutes of Design (NIDs) is a two-stage process. The candidate first appears in DAT Prelims and then DAT Mains.

The final merit list is prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains scores.

The candidates has to get their NID DAT 2023 admit cards stamped by the invigilator at the test centre.

The entry gates are closed at 9.30 am. No candidates are allowed entry beyond this time.

No candidate will be allowed inside the exam centre after 9.30 am. So, candidates are urged to reach the exam centre on time.

The big day is finally here as the DAT Prelims exam will be conducted a few hours from now.

• Torn, vanished or written admit cards are not allowed on the NID DAT 2023 exam day.
• It is advised to note down the roll number, exam center, and reporting time after downloading the NID prelims admit card.
• NID 2023 candidates must carry multiple printouts of admit card for future reference.
• Students must carry photo ID along with NID DAT admit card at the exam center.
• If any NID 2023 candidates fail to show the admit card, then they will not be allowed to enter the examination hall.
• NID DAT 2023 candidates must report to the exam centers at 8 am.
• The NID prelims exam will start at 10 am.
• Candidates with cheating will be disqualified from the exam.
• It will be considered a criminal offence if any candidates try to take the NID DAT question booklet or part of it along with them.
• NID 2023 candidates must reach the test centers a minimum of two hours prior to the exam timing.
• The gate closing time is 9:30 AM.
• Candidates are not allowed to leave the examination hall before the end of the entrance test.
