The Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation, Mukesh Suryan, confirmed that in view of improving services related to the schools, each ward of the SDMC will get one English Medium School. He further informed that 12 new schools will be inaugurated soon.
Despite the reduction of budget allocation for Education from 26 to 24 percent, South Delhi Municipal Corporation is working hard towards improving the quality of education. Three municipal corporations in Delhi, namely, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, South Delhi Municipal Corporation, and the East Delhi Municipal Corporation handle primary education in Delhi. The jurisdiction of SDMC covers a total of 104 wards. To improve the quality of education further, SDMC has decided to establish English Medium Schools in all the 104 wards that fall under its jurisdiction.

Talking about the developments that have taken place in SDMC, Nitika Sharma, the Chairman of the Education Committee revealed that SDMC has been providing quality education among nearly 3 lakh students enrolled in 568 schools run by the Civic Agency. The wards also have science clubs in 200 schools this year, while smart classrooms have been constructed in 468 schools.
Further to ensure the continuation of online education, SDMC, in association with the NGOs, has been distributing tablets to students. The chairman informed that in order to ensure seamless online education, the civic agency has decided to distribute 5,000 tablets to students and 750 tablets to teachers by the end of the month of December. CCTV cameras have been installed in 388 SDMC school buildings. SDMC has also created a 'Sports Cell' to encourage students.
