16 IITGN scholars awarded Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship
The PMRF Scheme has been designed to improve the quality of research in various higher educational institutions in the country. It seeks to attract the best talent in research.
As many as 16 PhD scholars working in various interdisciplinary research and development areas at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar have received the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) in the May 2022 cycle.
Commendable feat by students: IITGN Director
IIT Gandhinagar Director tweeted, “I feel delighted to share that 16 PhD scholars from @iitgn have been selected for the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (#PMRF) in the May 2022 cycle! This is a commendable feat achieved by our students with the support of their faculty mentors. Congrats! #PMRF2022”
The 16 scholars who received PMRF are Abhishek Sarkar, Ankur Vinay Singh, Anshul Awasthi, Aprna Rathi, Barat Suresh, Dipesh Singh Chuphal, Gaurav Rai, Hema Naveena, Himanshu Beniwal, Indrani Zamindar, Niyati Shah, Poonam Rani, Rajnandan Borthakur, Saikat Kumar Misra, Shivani Sharma and Shrutimoy Das
What is PMRF scheme?
The PMRF Scheme has been designed to improve the quality of research in various higher educational institutions in the country. The scheme seeks to attract best talent in research, thereby realising the vision of development through innovation.
The scheme was announced in the 2018-19 Budget. The institutes that can offer PMRF include all IITs, all Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and some of the top central universities/National Institutes of Technology (NITs) that offer science and/or technology degrees. The candidates are selected through a rigorous selection process and their performance is reviewed through a national convention time to time.
