16 Indian Navy officers graduated from IIT Delhi

The NCW, a premier training centre for naval architect officers of the Indian Navy since 1977, and the Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Delhi, conduct the postgraduate diploma of IIT Delhi (DIIT) course in naval construction.

PGDIIT 2021-22 batch comprising 16 officers of Indian Navy and one officer of Indian Coast Guard graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi with a postgraduate diploma (naval construction: warship and submarine design) from naval construction wing located at IIT Delhi.  

The valedictory ceremony was held at IIT Delhi. Rear Admiral M Nirmal Menon, DGND (SDG) was the chief guest for the ceremony and felicitated graduating officers. Lt Dheeraj was awarded Paramanandan Gold Medal for best academic performance in PGDIIT course. Lt Raghav Pandey won Captain NS Mohan Ram Medal for best minor project PGDIIT 21-22. Lt Shubham Bajpai and Lt Chetan were awarded Commodore Garg Silver Medal for best major project PGDIIT 21-22.

The naval officers are trained for various professional tasks required by the Navy for maintenance, modernisation, design and construction of ships and submarines. It includes theoretical, analytical and design aspects of naval architecture.
