AICTE asks institutions to share newly introduced courses list
Many higher education institutions have introduced courses in emerging areas in line with the NEP 2020
The All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has asked universities and colleges to share the list of newly introduced courses to be included in the next year's Approval Process Handbook.
In line with the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, many institutions and universities have made use of the policy changes which are in line with the new policy and introduced courses in emerging areas or increased intake in emerging areas.
As per the AICTE notification, the Approval Process of 2021-22 had some major and effective changes as advocated in the National Education Policy. “It is seen that during the Approval Process 2021-22, many institutions Universities have made use of the policy changes which are inline with NEP 2020 such as Introduction of the new course(s) in the emerging area(s) / Increase in intake in emerging area course(s)/ introduction of OL&ODL course(s) / Introduction of regional language Course(s), etc.”
The NEP proposes a holistic and multidisciplinary education to improve the quality of technical education and it is also expected that the introduction of more new courses in emerging areas would help the student community in their goal of employability or entrepreneurship.
AICTE has asked institutions to furnish the list of any such approved new courses, by the governing body/ Academic Council or Board of Studies along with a detailed curriculum to consider and include in next year's Approval Process Handbook 2022-23 Course nomenclatures.
