AICTE releases academic calendar for technical institutes, colleges; check details here

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released the new academic calendar for colleges, universities across the country. As per the new guidelines, the classes for the existing students of technical courses in all affiliated colleges will commence from August 1, 2020.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released the new academic calendar to be followed by all the colleges, universities and technical institutes across the country. The classes for the existing students of technical courses in all affiliated colleges will commence from August 1, 2020. The teaching process including lateral entry to second-year courses for newly admitted students will start from September 1. 

The calendar is in continuation of AICTE's earlier communications where it was informed that AICTE will be releasing the academic calendar of activities for the Academic Year 2020-21 in the wake of coronavirus outbreak. 

Earlier, AICTE had also asked institutes to grant provisional admissions to PGDM and PGCM i.e. Certificate and Diploma Programmes in Management Courses, in wake of ongoing coronavirus crisis in the country.

As per the University Grants Commission guidelines, the college will begin its session for current students in August and for new ones in September.

List of directives given by AICTE to institutions, check below:

• Complete the first round of counseling/ admission for allotment of seats, on or before August 15, 202
• Completion of Second round of counselling/ admission for allotment of seats: On or before August 25, 2020
• Last date up to which students can be admitted against vacancies: August 31 of the Calendar Year.
• Commencement of classes for existing students of technical courses except for PGDM/PGCM: August 1, 2020
• Commencement of the academic session and the teaching process including Lateral Entry to Second Year Courses for newly admitted students: September 1, 2020
• Technical Institutions conducting PGDM/PGCM Courses shall not initiate the admission before: April 1, 2020
• Commencement of classes for existing students PGDM/PGCM: July 1, 2020
• Last date for cancellation of seats of PGDM/PGCM with a full refund: July 25, 2020
• Last date up to which students can be admitted in Open and Distance Learning Courses: August 15, 2020, and February 15, 2021
• Classes for existing students PGDM and PGCM courses will begin on July 1 and the academic session for the newly admitted students in these courses will be held between August 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021
• Admission ending date of PGDM/ PGCM Courses: July 31, 2020
