Coronavirus Lockdown 3.0: IIT Guwahati offers online courses in 15 states
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has been taking online classes for all of its theory courses (more than 350) and it aims to finish it by May 15, 2020. The scientific department at the institute is also providing online courses (both short and long term duration), 3-month long summer internship, interactive sessions, and webinars.
To avoid any academic loss of the students during the nationwide lockdown period, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is taking every possible step to impart knowledge through various traditional and modern (online) methods.
The institute through its E&ICT Academy aims to empower the scientific department by imparting online courses (both short and long term duration), 3-month long summer internship, interactive sessions, and webinars.
IIT Guwahati's E&ICT Academy, since its inception in 2015, has empowered more than 9,000 participants consisting of, faculty members, students, and industry personnel through 200+ courses conducted in 15 states nationwide in diverse areas such as Communication Engineering, VLSI, Data Science, IoT, Cloud Computing, Big Data Analytics, High-Performance Computing, ICT in Teaching, etc.
The E&ICT Academy, IIT Guwahati is headed by Professor Ratnajit Bhattacharjee and Dr. Gaurav Trivedi under the leadership of Professor TG Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati. The academy runs its courses with help of its collaborators from academia and industry.
IIT Guwahati has been taking online classes for all of its theory courses (more than 350) and it aims to finish it by May 15, 2020.
The annual progress seminars, synopsis, and viva-voce examinations of Ph.D. students are also being conducted through an online mode and continuously monitor their progress as well as ensure that this unexpected lockdown does not delay their career growth.
"The online courses prepared IIT Guwahati is similar to courses that are offered in other colleges. So, this online platform of IIT Guwahati will help students of any college or universities to study online while they are at home during the lockdown," a senior official from IIT Guwahati said.
