COVID-19 Impact: LPU starts virtual classes for students
With universities, colleges and other educational institutions shutting down following the government order until March 31, Lovely Professional University (LPU) has introduced virtual classes for students to provide uninterrupted teaching.
In order to contain the spread of COVID-19, the government had ordered educational institutions around the country to remain shut until March 31. In lieu of that, Lovely Professional University (LPU) has now started virtual classes for students which can be attended by them both from their hostels or homes. LPU is also making sure to do proper, needed temperature and allied check-ups for every individual entering the campus. All the staff rooms, schools, and cabins have also been sanitized.
Ashok Mittal, Chancellor, LPU, said in order to keep our students engaged and to make up for their study loss during this period of non-teaching, we have opted to take online classes. Our plan is to continue the teaching process through online lectures, presentations, and video calls for students during this time when whole country is almost on lockdown. Many final year students have to join the companies they have got placed earlier and for them, this break could lead to major study loss. To ensure that they don't suffer we have opted for this model.
The university has got its own all-purpose chat app 'LPU Live'. It helps in keeping the communication, collaboration, and engagement between the teachers, parents, students, and staff-member active on a single platform. This app helps the student to stay connected and never miss out on any important announcements. This app includes group messaging and private chat; audio-video calling, file sharing, and many more features.
We have asked all our students to download this app in order to remain connected with the university teachers and others. The teachers will be sharing the lecture notes and assignments on this app. Later, students need to submit their assignments to the university online system, where faculty can check accordingly.
