CSIR Presents 5C Model for Global Collaboration

As part of the Science Summit at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (SSUNGA79), the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is hosting the event "CSIR for Connect, Collaborate, Converge, and Convert (5C) for Global Sustainable Development" on September 18 to 19 September 2024. This two-day event will feature six sessions, 29 expert speakers, and a panel discussion, highlighting CSIR's scientific contributions, its commitment to global sustainable development, and efforts to enhance South-South cooperation.

During the inaugural session, Dr N. Kalaiselvi, Director General, CSIR and Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India, emphasised the importance of South-south cooperation for the achievement of SDGs at the global level. Dr Rama Swami Bansal, Head of International S&T Affairs Directorate, CSIR, gave an overview of the programme.

Six scientific sessions will be held over the two days. The topics of the scientific sessions are provided below:

  • Affordable Healthcare for Global Society
  • Food and Agriculture
  • Environment and Waste Management
  • Sustainable Infrastructure
  • Climate Change
  • Encouraging South-South Cooperation for Sustainable Development

Directors and scientists from various CSIR labs will be speaking at the UN Science Summit. The session on "Strengthening South-South Cooperation for Achieving SDGs" is being organized in collaboration with WAITRO and APCTT, featuring international experts from global RTOs, embassies, and the NAM S&T Centre.

SSUNGA79 features about 400 sessions out of which five sessions were selected for live streaming at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) including the CSIR session.
