Decision to conduct or postpone GATE 2022 soon: IIT Kharagpur Director
Though there is speculation that GATE 2022 is likely to be postponed, there is no official confirmation from the exam conducting authority, IIT Kharagpur.
IIT Kharagpur Director said the institute is reviewing the situation and will soon take the decision on whether to conduct or postpone the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 exam.
GATE 2022 aspirants have raised concerns against the third wave of COVID-19. The exam is scheduled to be held on February 5, 6, 12 and 13. Though there is speculation that GATE 2022 is likely to be postponed, there is no official confirmation from the exam conducting authority, IIT Kharagpur.

Prof Virendra Kumar Tewari, Director, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, said, “We are consulting with our members associated with the GATE exam, and in constant touch with the administration, authorities, the decision on whether to conduct the GATE exam or postpone will be taken soon. The candidates are advised to follow the official website- gate.iitkgp.ac.in only regarding the exam dates, hall ticket.”
IIT Kharagpur deferred the release of GATE Admit Card 2022 thrice. Earlier, GATE 2022 admit card was to be released on January 3, 2022, then the date was revised to January 7, 2022, and now it has again been postponed till further notice. As per the official website, the admit card release date will be announced shortly.
Steps to download GATE 2022 admit card
To download the GATE 2022 admit card, candidates can follow the below-mentioned simple steps.
- Visit GATE official website- gate.iitkgp.ac.in.
- Click on the link “GATE 2022 admit card”.
- Login window will appear on the screen.
- Enter enrolment ID and password in the space provided.
- Click on the “Submit” button.
- GATE admit card 2022 will appear on the screen.
- Download GATE 2022 admit card and take a print out for future reference.
GATE is a computer-based test (CBT) conducted every year for admission to postgraduate engineering (ME/MTech) and research programmes. The entrance exam is jointly conducted by either the Indian Institute for Science, Bangalore (IISC Bangalore), IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, or IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee on a rotational basis. Students who seek to get admission in postgraduate programmes and jobs in PSUs can also take GATE.
