DTU-IIF has supported 65 active startups, collectively valued at over ₹700 crore, with private funding exceeding ₹100 crore and revenue generation surpassing ₹300 crore.

Delhi Technological University (DTU) is taking bold strides in entrepreneurship and environmental sustainability, offering its students transformative opportunities to innovate and make a difference. At a press conference, DTU shared significant achievements of its Innovation and Incubation Foundation (DTU-IIF), the university’s official startup incubator.

DTU-IIF has supported 65 active startups, collectively valued at over ₹700 crore, with private funding exceeding ₹100 crore and revenue generation surpassing ₹300 crore. These startups have created more than 1,000 jobs, showcasing the tangible impact of DTU’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The foundation provides mentorship, business support, and incubation services to students, helping them transform their ideas into market-ready ventures.

Students Leading Innovation Across Emerging Technologies

Speaking at the event, DTU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Prateek Sharma, emphasized how students are engaging with cutting-edge technologies from the very beginning of their academic journey. “From the first year of B.Tech, students join technical societies and begin working on innovations in drone technology, defense drones, robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT, and agricultural technology,” he said. Many of these projects evolve into successful startups, contributing to India's technological and economic growth.

Tackling Delhi’s Environmental Challenges

In addition to fostering entrepreneurship, DTU is also focusing on environmental sustainability. The university announced an upcoming workshop on November 22 titled “Environmental Issues, Challenges, and Solutions”, addressing Delhi’s urgent air quality concerns. The event will feature insights from government experts, NGO leaders, healthcare professionals, educators, and United Nations representatives.

During the workshop, DTU will sign an MoU with ‘The Perfact’ Group, a consultancy specializing in environmental solutions, to establish an Academia-Industry partnership. This collaboration aims to empower students and researchers to develop innovative approaches to improving environmental quality in Delhi.

Highlighting the community-driven nature of the initiative, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) from across the city have been invited to participate, fostering greater awareness and collective action at the grassroots level.

Empowering Students to Make a Difference

This partnership reflects DTU’s holistic approach to education, combining technology, innovation, and social responsibility. For students, it represents a unique opportunity to engage with real-world problems and contribute meaningfully to society. With its proven track record in fostering startups and its increasing focus on sustainability, DTU is positioning itself as a leader in nurturing students who are ready to shape the future. As DTU expands its impact across entrepreneurship and environmental sectors, its students remain at the forefront, driving innovations that promise to create a better tomorrow.
