The only items allowed inside the GATE exam hall include:

Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), such as ONGC, BHEL, GAIL, NALCO, etc., conduct recruitment using GATE scores differently. Some of them are -

• Direct Recruitment - PSUs like ONGC, NTPC, and IOCL use the GATE scores only to shortlist candidates. 
• Shortlisting of candidates through GATE scores, followed by group discussions, personal interviews, and document verification.
• Weighted Scores - Some PSUs weigh GATE scores between 75%- 85% of the total selection process. 

A GATE admit card is valid if the candidate's photograph and signature images are clear and legible. The photograph printed on the hall ticket must match the candidate's appearance on the examination day. 

Tip: Printing the admit card on an A-4 size paper using a laser printer is better. It's better to carry a coloured GATE admit card.

Candidates with scribes can avail themselves a compensatory time of one hour extra (20 minutes per hour of examination) at a stretch for the three-hour GATE 2025 examination. On the other hand, PwD or Dyslexic candidates with scribes can avail a compensatory time of 60 minutes. No of-spot request for a scribe is accepted.

Scribe facility is available to PwD candidates with a benchmark disability (not less than 40% disability) and those who face writing difficulty. Scribe will be provided only after the PwD certificate is submitted.

• An electronic copy of the GATE admit card will not be accepted. Candidates must carry a printed copy of the hall ticket on A4-size paper. 
• A valid photo ID proof (such as Aadhaar card, Voter ID, PAN card, or passport) must be carried to the exam hall, incase the photo quality printed on the admit card is poor.
• Candidates must report to the exam center 90 minutes before the exam time. Candidates will not be allowed to login 30 minutes after the exam.
• Candidates can log in and start reading the instructions 20 minutes before the start of the exam.
• Virtual scientific calculators will be available on the candidate's computer.
• Personal calculators, mobile phones, pagers, charts, smart watches, or any kind of electronic device are not allowed in the exam centre. 
• A scribble pad will be provided for rough work. Candidates must write their name and registration number before using it. If the scribble pad gets filled, the applicant gets another scribble pad after returning the previous one to the invigilator.
• Candidates must bring their pen and pencil and a transparent water bottle.
• PwD candidates may bring their assistive devices. They must show it to the exam centre for scrutiny.
• No personal belongings, such as wallets, snacks, etc., are allowed in the GATE examination hall.
• Candidates cannot leave the exam hall before the end of the exam.
• PwD candidates who have been granted one-hour compensatory time are allowed to leave the examination hall after the session by clicking the submit button in the presence of the invigilator.

IIT Roorkee has released the GATE branch-wise exam dates on the official website. The exam will take place in multiple sessions - (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm). The details regarding the exam, such as GATE paper codes and exam timing will be mentioned on the GATE 2025 exam admit card.

• If the GATE 2025 admit card is not available for download even if it is released, verify your application form status on the GOAPS portal.
• Candidates with incomplete or rejected applications will not receive the admit card. 
• Forgotten login credentials can be recovered using the “Forgotten Password” option on the GOAPS portal.
• If there are any errors in the GATE admit card, contact the GATE authorities through the GATE helpline.

• The GATE Enrollment ID acts as a username to log in to the GOAPS portal.
• It is required to retrieve passwords and complete the application process.
• Download admit card, application form, GATE scorecard, etc. 

Candidates should save their Enrollment ID securely, as it is essential throughout the GATE exam journey.

The pay scale of a GATE qualifier joining PSU can vary depending on the discipline, designation, PSU applied, GATE scores, and other factors. The average salary can be between INR 60,000 and INT 1,80,000 monthly.

GATE counselling takes place after the results are declared. It is conducted for candidates who have qualified for the GATE examination. Two bodies conduct counselling for admission to M.Tech programs: the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and Centralised Counselling for M.Tech (CCMT).

Yes, the GATE conducting authorties will arrange a qualified scribe free of charge. Candidates are not permitted to bring their scribes.
