Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) in Vadodara will host a Centre of Excellence (CoE) and a Chair Professor for aerospace studies, established by Airbus. As India’s first university dedicated to developing skilled professionals for the transportation and logistics sectors, GSV will benefit from this partnership. The announcement of the Airbus-GSV collaboration was made in the presence of Minister of Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw; Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu; Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways, Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu; and senior officials from the Government of India.

This partnership is part of Airbus’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at building a strong pipeline of skilled aviation professionals in India.“This is a ground-breaking partnership between industry and academia that will support the development of a strong pool of professionals who will power the future of India’s transportation sector, especially aviation. This will be a unique success story of the Government of India's 'Skill India' programme,” said Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director, Airbus in India and South Asia.

Prof. Manoj Choudhary, Vice Chancellor, GSV, said, “This pioneering partnership with Airbus shall significantly advance GSV’s vision to be industry-driven and innovation-led university and it also defines a template for industry-academia collaboration in India. We are thankful to Airbus for their very substantial contribution for regular education as well as executive education programmes at GSV, which will enable the growth of aviation sector in India through creation of superior human resources, skilling and cutting-edge research.”

The Airbus-GSV Centre of Excellence aims to transform the transportation and logistics sectors in India and beyond through organic research, innovation, and comprehensive capacity-building programs. Airbus will finance the centre's infrastructure development and provide essential equipment. Additionally, Airbus plans to implement technology solutions to facilitate training and research programs, thereby enhancing the employability of GSV students.

Scholarships To Meritorious and Underprivileged Students

Airbus plans to award scholarships to 40 meritorious and underprivileged students aiming to pursue courses in aviation engineering and related fields, covering their entire program fees. Thirty-three percent of these scholarships will be earmarked for female students, fostering gender diversity within the sector.

Additionally, Airbus and GSV will appoint a Guest Chair Professor to facilitate the establishment of the Centre of Excellence. This professor will also aid in developing undergraduate and postgraduate aerospace programs, along with short-term executive courses such as Safety Management, Flight Data Analysis, and Air Cargo Management for aviation professionals. Airbus intends to facilitate collaborations between GSV and prominent international institutions and industry forums. This initiative marks the implementation of a memorandum of understanding signed between GSV and Airbus in 2023.
