IIT Bombay Natural Sciences Prof joins as Director of IIT Patna
IIT Patna was running without a full time Director for over a year.
Former Vice-chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, Prof Trilok Nath Singh has joined as the Director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna. The institute was running without a full-time director for over a year.
TN Singh has assumed charge of the Director of IIT Patna from September 10, 2021. Prof Singh has served as the Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidhyapith, Varanasi. He is an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and has taught at the Department of Earth Sciences at the IIT Bombay.
IIT Patna was running without a full-time vice-chancellor since Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya retired after completing his five-year term as the director on June 2, 2020.
Prof Singh has completed his B.Sc, M.Sc and PhD from the BHU and has Received National Mineral Award in the year 2006 for his work. His research interest include Natural and Engineered Slope Stability, Rock β Blasting, Rock Mechanics, Engineering Geology, Waste Dump and Rock Environment, Ground Control and CO2 Sequestration
IIT Patna, one of the newly established IITs is the only institution from Bihar in the top 100 of the NIRF India Rankings 2021.
In the recently released National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings, IIT Patna has improved its ranking in several categories and has been ranked 21 among Engineering institutions in the country. It is at 47 in Research and 51 in the Overall category of the NIRF 2021. The result of the 6th edition of NIRF rankings 2021 was announced by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on September 9.
