The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and Autodesk have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to empower the next generation of engineers, designers, and innovators with advanced skills, preparing them for thriving careers in design and manufacturing industries. This collaboration aims to nurture top talent, drive India’s growth, and contribute to shaping the nation’s technical and scientific landscape.

The partnership will integrate Autodesk's extensive industry expertise with IIT Bombay's excellence in education, research, and innovation. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed by Steve Blum, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Autodesk, and Professor Ravindra Gudi, Dean of Alumni and Corporate Relations at IIT Bombay, during a ceremonial event held at the IIT Bombay campus.

The MoU signing ceremony took place in the presence of Autodesk President and CEO Andrew Anagnost during his visit to India, alongside IIT Bombay Director Professor Shireesh Kedare and other dignitaries. This collaboration reflects Autodesk's continued commitment to preparing students with future-ready skills.

Professor Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay shared “We are delighted to partner with Autodesk in empowering tomorrow’s engineers, designers, and innovators. Through Autodesk’s Fusion, Forma, and Flow platforms, our students will gain access to transformative tools and hands-on experiences that will enable them to excel in today’s competitive design and manufacturing landscape. This collaboration will bridge academic learning with cutting-edge industry technology, foster innovation, and position our graduates as vital contributors to India’s progress in science, technology, and sustainable industry practices. Together, we are paving the way for a new era of workforce readiness that will shape the future of India's design and make industries.”

Q:   Is it compulsory to stay in hostel in IIT Bombay?

A:

No, it’s not compulsory for regular scholars to stay in the hostel for studying at IIT Bombay. Also, not every student gets a hostel facility. However, students who get enrolled in summer and winter internships have to stay in a hostel during the tenure of their internship. Interns who get the hostel are required to complete the formalities such as registration, payment of internship fees, etc., with the academic office of the institute.

Q:   Between IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi, which has better hostel facilities and amenities for BTech students?

A:
Based on ratings and reviews from current and former students, IIT Delhi is considered to have better hostel facilities and amenities compared to IIT Bombay. The hostels at IIT Delhi are known for their cleanliness, spacious rooms, and well-maintained common areas. The campus also has various sports facilities, gymnasiums, and recreation rooms, which are highly appreciated by the students. In comparison, while the hostels at IIT Bombay are also considered to be of good quality, they are often criticized for being too congested and having inadequate facilities. However, the campus does have a good range of amenities including a sports complex, swimming pool, and student activity center.

Q:   Does IIT Bombay have a hostel?

A:

Yes, IIT Bombay provides accommodation to students. The college has a vast campus, where a total of 17 hostels are available, which includes (hostels no-1 to16, hostel no -18 and Tansa). Based on the availability of the hostel, the rooms are randomly allocated to students. All the first-year students of UG & PG courses share the same hostel. The hostel management and guidelines are regulated by the Hostel Co-ordinating Unit (HCU) of IIT Bombay.
