IIT Bombay’s Electrical Engineering Closing Rank Rises Marginally for Open Category; Drops for SC, ST, EWS
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the opening and closing ranks after round 1 seat allotment results. The JoSAA round 1 seat allotment result was declared today, June 20 at 10 am.

After the JoSAA 2024 round 1 seat allotment results were declared today, June 20, the cloning ranks for all IIT and various courses offered by them have been released at josaa.nic.in. The JEE Advanced closing rank for IIT Bombay’s one of the most popular courses - Electrical Engineering has gone up by just one rank after round 1 seat allotment. This year, the opening rank in the open Gender-Neutral category for four-year BTech Electrical Engineering course is 15 and the closing rank is 464. Last year, the JEE Advanced cutoff rank (closing rank) for the four-year BTech Electrical Engineering course was 463 after round 1 in the open Gender-Neutral category and the opening rank was 142.
In 2024, a total of 17740 seats, including Female Supernumerary seats, will be available across 23 IITs. With 48,248 candidates qualifying for IIT admissions through JEE Advanced 2024, the number of aspirants exceeds the total IIT seats by nearly threefold. Notably, there's an increase of 355 seats compared to last year, with this year's total reaching 17,740, while last year's stood at 17,385.

This year, authorities will conduct the JoSAA 2024 counselling in five rounds for seat allotment. The candidates who have been allotted seats in round 1 must complete online reporting to the allotted IIT by June 24. Only those candidates who will complete the payment of the required fee by June 24, will be allotted seats. The JoSAA 2024 round 2 seat allotment result will be out on June 27.
