IIT Bombay to Establish Financial Markets Program with INR 130 Crore Support from Motilal Oswal Foundation

In a landmark initiative aimed at nation-building and enhancing academic excellence in the financial sector, the Motilal Oswal Foundation has entered into a historic partnership with IIT Bombay. This collaboration will lead to the creation of academic infrastructure and the development of a program in financial markets at IIT Bombay. Backed by an INR 130 crore commitment from the Motilal Oswal Foundation, this represents the foundation’s largest contribution to date.
Established by Motilal Oswal and Raamdeo Agrawal, co-founders of MOFSL, the foundation has pledged 10% of Motilal Oswal Financial Services' equity - currently valued at INR 4,000 crore, toward philanthropic initiatives over the next decade. This also marks one of the largest corporate philanthropic contributions ever made to an Indian educational institution.
Under the MoU, the Motilal Oswal Knowledge Centre will be established on IIT Bombay's campus, covering approximately 1 to 1.2 lakh square feet. This cutting-edge academic block will become a central hub for innovation, research, and academic excellence. Featuring state-of-the-art laboratories, research centres, and collaborative spaces, the Motilal Oswal Knowledge Centre will help IIT Bombay attract top-tier talent and advance its mission to lead globally in science and technology.
The Motilal Oswal Centre for Capital Markets (MOCM) at IIT Bombay aims to enhance the Indian financial sector by developing advanced capabilities. This multidisciplinary center will integrate expertise from finance, economics, management, operations research, computer science, AI, and mathematics.
MOCM will provide a range of academic programs in Financial Markets across graduate, undergraduate, and post-graduate levels. Additionally, it plans to offer flexible online Post Graduate Diplomas, making its courses accessible to global professionals. The Centre aims to revolutionize education by giving students exceptional access to industry leaders, hands-on training with real-world data, and opportunities to shape the future of the financial sector.

Q: Is BTech available in IIT Bombay?
Yes, IIT Bombay offers a four-year BTech in eight specialisations. Admission to these programmes is based on merit in JEE Advanced. Only the students who pass JEE main can take the advanced exam. The aspirants who furher meet the cutoff criteria can participate in JoSAA counselling.

Yes, BDes is available at IIT Bombay. It is a four-year full-time course spread across eight semester. IIT Bombay offers BDes through IDC School of Design at the UG level. It also offers five-year integrated BDes + MDes programme spread across 10 semesters. The option of doing a dual degree, is available at the end of third year. Candidates who have completed Class 12 can apply for IIT Bombay BDes courses.
