The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has launched a new academic programe: the M.A. in Culture, Society, Thought. This unique two-year, full-time programme (hss.iitd.ac.in/macst) is designed to delve into the intricate themes of culture, society, and thought, with a strong emphasis on sociology, literature, and philosophy as its foundational disciplines.
Interested candidates with a bachelorβs degree in any discipline (with a minimum 55% or equivalent CGPA in BA and first division for all other degrees) can apply through the Instituteβs PG admission portal: ecampus.iitd.ac.in/PGADM/login.
IIT Delhi MA in Culture, Society, Thought Application Form
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Delhi will commence the application process for admissions to the newly launched programme on March 20, 2024, for the academic year starting from July 2024. The last date to apply for this uniquely designed interdisciplinary MA programme is April 4, 2024. An Open House will be held on March 15, 2024, for interested candidates to know more about the programme structure, fees, faculty members, scholarships, accommodations, and academic and career prospects, among other aspects.
IIT Delhi MA in Culture, Society, Thought Admission
The admission procedure for MA in Culture, Society, Thought Admission includes shortlisting through an entrance examination or GATE 2024 score (XH) followed by an interview of the shortlisted candidates in May 2024. The fee structure of the program will be at par with other postgraduate programmes of the Institute.
Highlighting the salience of the program, Prof. Farhana Ibrahim, Head, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Delhi, said, βThe new MA program explores aspects of contemporaneity and interdisciplinarity across disciplines in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Its location at IIT Delhi gives it a unique vantage point to generate a new corpus of knowledge, populate new kinds of archives, and develop critical methodologies to give new directions to humanities and social science research from the global south.β
Outcome of New Academic Programme in MA in Culture, Society, Thought
This programme will train students for diverse careers in research, academia, social work, think tanks, media, policymaking, and more, within both governmental and non-governmental sectors, research institutions, and social entrepreneurship. Graduates can pursue doctoral studies within IIT Delhi's Department of Humanities and Social Sciences or in international programs.
