IIT Gandhinagar and AIT Thailand Launch Double Degree Master’s Programme

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar in India and the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand have jointly launched an innovative double-degree master’s programme (DDMP). This unique initiative provides students with the opportunity to pursue two separate postgraduate degrees concurrently, with each degree being awarded by one of the partnering institutions. This collaborative effort is designed to enhance educational opportunities and foster greater academic exchange between the two prestigious institutes.

Candidates who are interested in this programme can apply for the upcoming semester, which begins in August. Application forms can be filled out for DDMP till July 15 at the official website. To be eligible for this programme, applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree that spans four years, they must have secured a minimum grade point average (CGPA) of 2.75 out of 4.0 or an equivalent score, and demonstrating proficiency in English. English proficiency can be shown through either the AIT-EET with a score of 6 or the IELTS with a score of 6.

Double Degree Master’s Programme

The DDMP covers a diverse range of courses including Data Science and AI, Bio-Nano Materials Science and Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Management, and more. Participants will have the unique opportunity to experience educational environments at both campuses, enhancing their academic journey through comprehensive curricula.

Students enrolled in this programme have the flexibility to begin their studies at either institution. The structured curriculum spans two semesters (one year) at the Asian Institute of Technology and an additional two semesters at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. This programme provides students with the opportunity to engage in an innovative, interdisciplinary approach across various fields of study.

Furthermore, the programme offers access to extensive placement opportunities, career fairs, and networking with industry leaders, businesses, NGOs, and governmental bodies across Asia. Both institutions will provide on-campus residence facilities and assist students with e-visa processing to ensure a smooth transition between the campuses, the spokesperson said.
