In collaboration with the Assam government, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is contributing to nurturing scientific talent among school students in the state. This partnership reflects a shared dedication to the grassroots implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with IIT Guwahati leading the charge in rolling out various customized mentoring and training programs for educators and learners alike.
Highlighting its recent efforts, on February 5, 2024, IIT Guwahati hosted a special 5-day orientation program for 110 school students. Along with this, the institute is conducting an extensive 5-day residential training program for teachers. These initiatives are a testament to IIT Guwahati's dedication to promoting a culture of innovation and hands-on learning, underscoring its role as a catalyst in shaping the future of education in Assam.
Orientation Program for 110 School Students at IIT Guwahati
On February 5, 2024, IIT Guwahati, in partnership with the Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC) and the Government of Assam, launched a groundbreaking 5-day orientation program for 110 school students from throughout the state. Keshab Mahanta, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Science and Technology, and Information Technology of the Government of Assam was also present at the event.
Conducted under the Mukhya Mantrir Bigyan Pratibha Sandhan, the primary objective of the program was to bridge the gap between extraordinary students and the right destination for honing their skills in research and innovation. The 5-day program included mentorship for the selected students and exposure to various scientific fields.
Residential Teacher Training Program
Aiming to empower teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to encourage innovation and hands-on learning in schools, IIT Guwahati successfully completed a transformative 5-day residential training program for educators. Participants underwent training in multiple STEM topics, including Basic Electronics, Block-based Coding, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Machi Learning, and 3D Design and Printing.
