IIT Guwahati 26th Convocation Ceremony will be graced by Padma Shri awardee Dr Sridhar Vembu, Founder and CEO of Zoho Corporation, serving as the Chief Guest.

IIT Guwahati 26th Convocation Ceremony: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is gearing up to celebrate its Twenty-Sixth Convocation on July 14, 2024. The event will be graced by Padma Shri awardee Dr Sridhar Vembu, Founder and CEO of Zoho Corporation, serving as the Chief Guest.

Professor Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming convocation, highlighting the institute's unwavering commitment to academic excellence and pioneering research. He praised the Class of 2024 for their dedication to advancing science and technology, anticipating their significant contributions to society and the global scientific community.

Key Highlights

This year’s convocation marks the graduation of the first batches from several programs:

- MBA

- MA in Liberal Arts

- MDes in Electronic Product Design

- M Tech in Bioengineering

- M Tech in Biomedical Science and Engineering

- MS(R) in Polymer Science and Technology

- First PhD student in the Joint PhD program in Food Science and Technology with Gifu University

Historical Milestones

Since its inception with the first convocation in 1999, where 63 students graduated, IIT Guwahati has achieved remarkable growth. In 2024, the institute will confer a total of 2145 degrees, comprising 932 in Undergraduate programs, 938 in Postgraduate programs, and 275 in PhD programs. The graduation of 468 female students underscores the institute's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Awards and Recognitions

The convocation ceremony will feature prestigious awards, including:

- 4 Gold Medals, including the President's Gold Medal and Governor of Assam Gold Medals.

- 16 Silver Medals for top performers in disciplines such as BTech, BDes, MA, MSc, and MBA.

- 14 Best PhD Thesis Awards and 14 Best Master's Thesis Awards, recognizing outstanding research contributions.
