IIT Hyderabad Receives INR 60 Crore Grant from DST for Establishing Research Facility

Under the Sophisticated Analytical & Technical Help Institutes (SATHI) scheme by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Indian Institiute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad Cluster has secured a grant of INR 60 crores. Till now three clusters have been chosen in this SATHI scheme call. The upcoming IIT Hyderabad center, named the Centre for In-Situ and Correlative Microscopy (SATHI-CISCoM), will play a pivotal role in advancing characterisation techniques.
The proposed center is set to become a leading-edge facility, uniquely equipped for immediate analysis across multiple scale dimensions, supporting fundamental research as well as practical applications in development. This project aims to bring together specialists from an extensive range of scientific disciplines, including but not limited to physics, chemistry, biology, and pharmacology. Together, they will work towards common scientific goals that are specifically attainable through the use of sophisticated microscopy techniques.
Led by Prof BS Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad and a team of researchers from IIT Hyderabad with Dr Sai Rama Krishna Malladi as the Principal Investigator, the SATHI-CISCoM facility is supported by 15 academic, research, and industrial organisations to the tune of 16+ Cr, namely, University of Hyderabad (UoH), Telangana State Council for Higher Education, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur, National Institute of Technology Raipur, National Institute of Technology Warangal, Chaitanya Bharati Institute of Technology Hyderabad, Sri Vishnu Educational Society Hyderabad, International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB), Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT Hyderabad), LV Prasad Eye Institute Hyderabad, Dr. Reddy’s Labs Hyderabad, Bharat Biotech Hyderabad, Amara Raja Group Tirupati, TATA Steel.
