IIT Indore to share lab facilities with students of state-run colleges
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Akash Tripathi, principal secretary, Department of Technical Education, Skill Development and Employment and Commissioner Technical Education and Professor Anand Parey, Dean Resources, IIT Indore.
Indian Institute of Technology, Indore and Directorate of Technical Education, Madhya Pradesh have collaborated to support state-run colleges. An MoU has been signed to provide access to lab facilities and other resources at IIT Indore to students of state-run engineering colleges (Jabalpur, Rewa, Ujjain, Sagar and Nowgong) and government-aided engineering colleges (SGSITS Indore, MITS Gwalior and SATI Vidisha). According to the official press note, the initiative has been taken to enhance the knowledge base and impart the necessary skills to students graduating from government and government-aided engineering colleges. The initiative will also make students industry-ready, Joint director, technical education, Mohan Sen said.

Initiative to make students industry-ready!
“These facilities are very important for any education system and such facilities enable the students of state government engineering colleges to enhance their skills and will enable them to match the challenges posed by globally placed technological firms and industries,” Sen said.
Under this MoU, a batch of 40 students (plus two faculty members) will be able to visit IIT Indore. Meanwhile, the decision on the number of visits will be planned after mutual discussion, said the officials. Each visit will be for a day. This will include visits to the laboratory facilities as per the choice of the college. Students will be able to utilize the facility of any lab of IIT Indore. These facilities will be availed with a proper mechanism of booking the facility online. Facilities will be used on the basis of mutual discussion. Full access will be given to students of the learning resource centre of IIT Indore. Undergraduate/ Postgraduate students will also have the opportunity to join the internship and as well carry out project work/research training at IIT Indore.
Training sessions, lectures at IIT Indore twice a semester
The number of students, duration and topic of the internship will be decided with mutual discussion. Research and lodging expenses will be borne by IIT Indore, added officials. IIT Indore in consultation with state-run govt engineering colleges may also arrange training sessions, lectures on the topics as per the requirement twice a semester. IIT Indore faculty members will also help in curriculum development and improving academic standards by becoming a member of the Board of Studies and Academic Council. IIT Indore will assist in setting up tinkering labs in engineering colleges and polytechnics. The directorate of technical education will monitor and schedule the visit of these colleges in consultation with the IIT Indore administration.
