C3iHub at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has launched a Cyber Security Vocational Program in collaboration with Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) Kanpur and the Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj Innovation Foundation (CSJMIF). The partnership was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at IIT Kanpur. This six-month program aims to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge to excel in the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity.
The course curriculum includes topics such as system security, malware analysis, network security, cryptography, and IoT security. This entirely online course offers students both foundational knowledge and practical experience. A key component of the training is the use of customized labs available at each student's desk through the Cyber Range. This setup ensures that students gain hands-on experience and industry-relevant skills, preparing them for successful careers in the cybersecurity field.
C3iHub will offer a Virtual Lab for course practicals, provide technical help desk support for students, and issue certificates of participation or completion, along with final assessment results for all students. CSJMU will ensure the smooth execution of the program, while CSJMIF will provide the platform to run the program. This initiative aims to enroll up to 50,000 students, marking a significant step toward fostering cybersecurity expertise in India.
The MoU signing and exchange ceremony took place on June 6th, 2024, and was attended by prominent figures such as Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, and Prof. Vinay Pathak, Vice Chancellor of CSJMU, along with principals from 20 affiliated colleges. The MoU was signed by Dr. Tanima Hajra, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Interim CEO of C3iHub, Anil Kumar Yadav, Registrar of CSJMU, and Vivek Mishra, Chief Executive Officer of CSJMIF.
Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, said, "The Cyber Security Vocational Program will help students develop a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity, expanding their knowledge to an advanced level of cybersecurity, which will make them future-ready. We hope to provide a strong platform for students to learn practical knowledge and skills that are essential in today's digital age by combining C3iHub's experience and the resources of CSJMU and CSJMIF”.
Prof. Vinay Pathak, Vice Chancellor, CSJMU, said, "This MoU signifies CSJMU's commitment to providing our students with industry-relevant education. The cybersecurity program will equip them with the knowledge and expertise to tackle upcoming challenges in this critical domain."
