GATE 2025 Exam Begins Tomorrow: Dates, Exam Pattern, Important Instructions, etc.
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 is set to begin on February 1, 2025, and will continue on February 2, 15, and 16, 2025. Organised by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, this examination serves as a gateway for admissions to postgraduate programs in engineering, technology, architecture, science, and humanities across various institutions in India. IIT Roorkee will start the GATE 2025 exam on February 1, 2025, and continue on February 2, 15, and 16, 2025. The exam will be conducted in two shifts: a morning session (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and an afternoon session (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm). On Feb 1, the first shift exam will be conducted for CS1, AG, and MA and the second shift exam will be conducted for CS2, NM, MT, TF, and IN subject test papers.
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering will be conducted online as a computer-based test across various regions in India. Candidates appearing for the exam must download their GATE 2025 admit card from the GOAPS portal. To download the GATE hall ticket 2025, candidates must provide their credentials- GATE enrollment ID and password.
GATE 2025 Exam Pattern
The GATE exam will be conducted for 30 subjects. Aspirants appearing for the exam must be familiar with the GATE 2025 exam pattern. Here is a brief information regarding the GATE exam scheme, time duration, mode, marking scheme, etc.

For one mark, MCQ, 1/3 rd negative marking will be done for an incorrect response. For two marks, MC2, 2/3 rd negative marking will be deducted. There is no negative marking for wrong answers to MSQ or NAT questions. |
Important GATE 2025 Exam-Day Guidelines
- Candidates must carry a printed copy of the GATE admit card with proof of original valid ID, such as an Aadhar card, PAN card, Passport, Driving License, Voter ID, etc.
- Candidates must report to the exam centre at least 90 minutes before the commencement of the exam.
- Electronic devices such as calculators, pagers, mobile phones, watches, and the like are prohibited inside the exam hall.
- Candidates can log in and start reading the instructions 20 minutes before the start of the exam.
- Virtual calculators will be available on the candidate's computer.
- A scribble pad will be provided for doing rough work and calculations.
- Candidates can carry a pen, pencil and a transparent water bottle
- Pwd applicants who have been granted compensatory time are allowed to leave the exam centre after 12:30 pm in the forenoon session and after 5:30 pm (in the afternoon session)
