IIT Kanpur celebrates occasion with recital of the Preamble of India
The programme commenced with felicitation of the dignitaries attending the event. The occasion was celebrated with the reading of the Preamble of the Constitution of India.
Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) celebrated Constitution Day 2022 at the IITK campus. IITK director, Abhay Karandikar graced the event as the chief guest while the Institute's deputy director, S Ganesh was the guest of honor. The occasion also recorded the presence of New, Delhi, Supreme Court, advocate-on-record, Manish Paliwal and Allahabad High Court advocate, Rohan Gupta.

Karandikar led the recitation of the Preamble followed by an English recitation by S Ganesh. "The essence of the Preamble was echoed by all the participants including faculty members, officers, staff, and the students, in unison." read an IIT-K press release.
Manish Paliwal spoke on the significance of the Constitution and the Preamble and drew parallels to the working and significance of the Constitution with the present technology-driven society. Rohan Gupta talked about his opinions on the importance of data privacy and answered questions asked by the audience. With reference to data privacy in today’s world, he shared insights on the right to privacy with relevant references and discussed the idea of a nation and reservation systems with specific reference to the EWS category.
IIT Kanpur, assistant registrar (legal), Prakalpa Sharma, drew insights from the attendees and made a concluding speech while sharing insights on the review petition with regards to the EWS category of reservation, and shed some light on the legal system with reference to the Government of India Act 1935. Sharma also spoke about the constitutional progress in terms of democracy and judicial pronouncement, and the generic notion of India as the ‘Mother of Democracy’. The Constitution Day event was organised by IIT-K's legal cell team.
