At the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, inaugurated the Judgment and Decision Making (JDM) India’ conference, placing its emphasis on fundamental cognitive neural processes. This conference, specifically centered around these cognitive mechanisms, is being both co-convened and hosted by two distinguished professionals: Arjun Ramakrishnan, who holds expertise as a neuroscientist and decision researcher at IIT Kanpur, and Sumitava Mukherjee, a renowned decision researcher and behavioral scientist from IIT Delhi. 

Together, they are steering this significant gathering, fostering discussions and explorations into the intricate realms of decision-making processes within the human mind. The realm of JDM explores the scientific intricacies behind Judgment and Decision-Making, encompassing the core cognitive and neural processes that shape our choices.

The conference featured discussions on research spanning neuroeconomics, behavioral economics, rationality, nudges, risk perception and measurement, artificial intelligence, and algorithmic decision-making. Speakers from various countries addressed topics ranging from human cognition to animal thinking processes.

During the conference, the speaker delved into decision-making processes and their practical applications across diverse realms of life, business, and society. Topics encompassed controlled laboratory experiments as well as field studies, providing comprehensive coverage across these areas.

The conference featured keynote addresses by Barbara Mellers, the George I Heyman University Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, and Arvind Sahay, the Director of Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon. Concluding the event, Jon Baron, Emeritus Professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania and founder editor of the journal Judgment and Decision Making, delivered the final address.
