IIT Kanpur Placement Day 1: 579 Offers Secured, 13 International Roles
13 Students Secure Prestigious International Offers; Top Recruiters Include Microsoft, Google, and American Express
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) began its Phase-I placement session with an impressive performance, receiving 579 job offers on Day 1. The outcome reflects the institute's unwavering commitment to academic excellence and its ability to prepare students for top-tier roles in both national and international arenas.
Out of the 579 offers, 523 students received positions through a combination of campus placements and Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs). A remarkable 199 students accepted PPOs, showcasing the growing recognition of IIT Kanpur’s graduates by leading global firms. Enhancing the institute’s international reputation, 13 students secured highly sought-after international job offers, underlining the global demand for IIT Kanpur’s exceptional talent.
The opening day saw active participation from 74 esteemed organizations. Industry leaders such as Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Databricks, Google, American Express, SLB, and Deutsche Bank emerged as top recruiters, demonstrating the diversity and quality of opportunities provided to students.
Speaking about the outstanding results, Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, said, “The large number of offers, including significant international placements, underscores the global recognition of IIT Kanpur’s academic standards and the calibre of our students. As per the verified students' reviews on Shiksha, top companies, such as Barclays, Flipkart, Qualcomm, Bajaj, HSBC, Tata Motors and Intel come for final placements at IIT Kanpur for MTech. Students get roles from technical research profiles to analytical roles. Additionaly, the institute in 2022 recorded a the highest domestic package of INR 1.9 crore per annum (not just for M.Tech but overall across courses).

IIT Kanpur has not released course-wise placements information so far for 2022-23 Phase-I placements (which got over in December). According to media reports, phase 1 of the placement session 2022-23 concluded with 1,200 job offers received from over 250 companies. IIT Kanpur the highest package (domestic) stood at INR 1.9 crore per annum. The recruitment drive witnessed 74 international offers and 208 PPOs and a total of 1,198 students accepted the job offers. Q: How are the BSc placements at IIT Kanpur?
IIT Kanpur BSc placements 2024 have not been concluded by the institute yet. However, according to media reports, a total of 989 offers were made during 2023-24 (Phase-one) placements. IIT Kanpur BSc average package for the placed graduates during 2023-24 (phase one) stood at INR 26.27 LPA.
